This scientific publication presents a theoretical analysis of recent international research studies published between 2024 and 2025 that explore the effects of various track and field disciplines on the human body. This area of theoretical inquiry is of high relevance, as it pertains to the pressing issue of public health in Ukraine. Contemporary scientific research clearly demonstrates that engaging in regular physical activity—specifically, 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week—significantly reduces the risk of premature death caused by natural factors, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. Therefore, maintaining an adequate level of physical activity among the population is a key determinant of strong public health.
Track and field athletics is one of the most popular and effective means of physical conditioning and human physical development. This discipline serves as a cornerstone in building physical education programs across educational institutions at various levels and orientations. Consequently, the study of issues related to this sport holds considerable scientific value.
Within this article, the author undertakes an original attempt to assess the impact of track and field training on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, as well as on energy metabolism processes. In addition, the paper addresses the issue of injury patterns specific to this sport. The most common injuries among track and field athletes are identified, with special attention given to the problem of stress fractures across different athletic events.
A particularly strong aspect of this work is its integration of cutting-edge scientific data within the outlined thematic framework. The article presents findings from a meta-analysis of a substantial number of research studies. The conclusion emphasizes that track and field training can positively influence human health—provided that educators and coaches are properly trained to deliver high-quality instruction, that appropriate infrastructure is developed to support these athletic activities, and that public education campaigns are implemented to promote a conscious, informed approach to physical activity as a means of improving individual health.
