Our previous studies have demonstrated that integrated cardio-strength training loads can be effectively used in combined health-enhancing sessions, providing simultaneous enhancing of the musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems. The question now concerns the specific features of their application within the daily routine of a working individual. In this context, both morning and evening training sessions are possible. It is well known that the activity of various body functions and overall work capacity varies throughout the day. Therefore, there is a need to investigate heart rate (HR) responses during cardio-strength sessions at different times of day (morning/evening).
Purpose of the study — to examine the characteristics of heart rate during health-enhancing cardio-strength sessions depending on the time of day (morning/evening). Heart rate parameters during the study were recorded using a POLAR heart rate monitor. A 64-year-old mail with a high level of physical fitness for his age participated in the study. In this case study, based on the analysis of mean values, it was found that evening baseline HR was higher than in the morning, both at complete rest and immediately before training load. The positive effect of the warm-up in normalizing the functional state of the body was demonstrated, as evidenced by a reduction in the difference between morning and evening HR immediately before training loads. During the exercise, higher absolute HR values were observed in the evening compared to the morning, mainly due to higher peak values within the circuit of exercises. At the same time, the increase in HR during training load relative to complete rest and pre-training load levels was lower in the evening than in the morning. The role of the warm-up in reducing the difference between HR increments during training load relative to pre-training load levels in the morning and evening was also demonstrated.
