Етнолінгвістичні студії – філософія традицій та сучасності (на матеріалі авторського посібника Britain vs. Ukraine: ethnolinguistic studies (Wheel of the Year, Festivals) – свято Litha vs. Івана Купала)

Стаття присвячена питанням важливості викладання етнолінгвістич-
них студій в сучасному перекладознавчому просторі. Розглядається
важливість вивчення іншомовних традицій у порівнянні із подібними
культурологічними аспектами власного етносу, проведенні паралелей та
визначенні подібного. Останнє пропонується робити із метою зменшення
міжнаціонального розбрату в аспекті дотримання народних традицій,
встановлення культурологічного містку між народами та поглиблення
іншомовної компетенції та культурно–освітнього рівня студентів.

The article is devoted to questions of the importance of ethnolinguistic studies
in modern translation and interpreting space. It observes the importance of studying
foreign–language traditions in comparison with similar cultural aspects of its
own ethnic group, conducting parallels. The latter is proposed to be made with
the aim of reducing interethnic discord in the aspect of observing folk traditions,
establishing a cultural bridge between peoples and deepening the competence of the
foreign language and the cultural and educational level of students. The following
is proposed to be maid on the simple example of comparison of two fests – Slavik
Ivana Kupala (territory of Ukraine) vs. Celtic Litha (territory of Britain). A parallel
can be held between rituals, between the main signs and symbols. And each of these
aspects is expressed in the language with the help of nationally–marked vocabulary,
idiomatic expressions. Let us conclude that the main task of an interpreter is to
convey not only the essence of the meanings, but also the poetics of each word, not
only the semantics of the content, but also the cognitive features of the information
layer. The main task of the teacher of Ethnolinguistics discipline and other related
disciplines (linguistics, etc.) – to teach this. To teach not only to use the vocabulary
but to feel content that is possible only with the deep love and respect in the first
place to the traditions, the history of the native land, as well as to the foreign ethnic
group whose language is taught.
