Роль адаптивного спорту у соціальній інтеграції молоді з інвалідністю в українських громадах

У статті досліджується роль адаптивного спорту як засобу соціальної інтеграції молоді з інвалідністю в умовах українських громад. Метою роботи було обґрунтувати значення адаптивного спорту у формуванні інклюзивного середовища та визначити шляхи підвищення його ефективності. Дослідження проведено на базі Обухівської громади за участю 60 респондентів, серед яких молодь з інвалідністю, тренери та представники громадських організацій. Використано анкетування, інтерв’ю, спостереження та експеримент із впровадженням 16-тижневої програми адаптивного спорту. Отримані результати підтверджують, що заняття за спеціальною програмою суттєво покращують індекс соціальної інтеграції, рівень самооцінки та частоту участі у спортивних заходах. Водночас виявлено бар’єри, пов’язані з інфраструктурними, фінансовими й психологічними факторами. Результати дослідження доводять ефективність програм адаптивного спорту для підвищення рівня соціальної інклюзії молоді з інвалідністю та можуть бути використані при розробці стратегій розвитку інклюзивного спорту в громадах.

The article examines the role of adaptive sport as a tool for the social integration of youth with disabilities within Ukrainian communities. The purpose of the study was to substantiate the significance of adaptive sport in building inclusive environments and to identify ways to enhance its effectiveness in the context of decentralization and community development. The research was conducted in the Obukhiv community and involved 60 respondents, including young people with disabilities aged 16–25, coaches, and representatives of local non-governmental organizations. A combination of methods was applied: surveys, structured interviews, observation, and an experimental intervention. For the experimental group (n=20), a 16-week program of adaptive sport was implemented, which included two training sessions per week with a combination of general physical exercises, individualized tasks, team games, and elements of psychological support. The control group (n=20) continued with their usual lifestyle without systematic involvement in sport. The findings demonstrate that participation in the adaptive sport program significantly improved the index of social integration, self-esteem levels, and the frequency of participation in sports activities. Compared to the control group, the experimental group showed statistically significant and practically meaningful changes (p<0.05; effect size >1.0). The study also revealed key barriers to participation, such as insufficient infrastructure, limited access to specialized equipment, lack of qualified coaches, and psychological factors related to self-confidence and social stigma. At the same time, important motivating factors were identified, including opportunities for socialization, health benefits, and role models from Paralympic athletes.
The results confirm that adaptive sport is an effective mechanism for promoting social inclusion of youth with disabilities and can be recommended for integration into local community development strategies.
