This article analyzes contemporary scientific approaches to the development of coordination skills in young athletes through sports games, considering age-related physiological characteristics. Purpose of the study: To conduct a content analysis of current scientific literature in order to synthesize information on the age-related characteristics of the development of coordination skills in young athletes through sports games, to identify sensitive periods in their development, and to provide a rationale for practical recommendations on structuring the training process.
It substantiates the importance of coordination training as a component of long-term athletic development in children and adolescents. Data on the sensitive periods for the development of coordination skills between the ages of 8 and 16 are summarized, and the characteristics of the development of balance, spatial orientation, reaction speed, differentiation of muscular effort, sense of rhythm, and reorganization of motor actions are identified. The potential of sports games as an effective means of comprehensively developing coordination abilities has been analyzed, owing to the high variability of motor actions, the need for rapid decision-making, and the constant change in game situations. It is demonstrated that the application of a differentiated approach, considering age-related patterns of motor function development, enhances the effectiveness of the training process, promotes the development of technical skill and motor intelligence, and helps prevent injuries. A promising direction for improving the training of young athletes is the individualization of methods for developing coordination abilities in accordance with the sensitive periods of ontogenesis and the specific characteristics of individual sports games.
