The dissertation offers, for the first time, a comprehensive social-philosophical analysis of the cultural boundary as a phenomenon of social complexity, the latter understood as a mode of organization of socio-cultural reality that combines the processes of social organization and self-organization, emerging as an "unstable architecture" of a mobile, non-linear, temporal order. The core of the study is the concept of the cultural boundary, conceived not as a fixed dividing line but as a boundary-chronotope that is constituted by the meaning-making activity of the human being and organizes human-dimensional social complexity. The methodological foundation of the study is the paradigm of complexity, whose theoretical core is synergetics and which emerges not as a disciplinary theory but as a new type of scientific rationality, in which the traditional opposition between order and chaos, determinacy and randomness is overcome; it is substantiated that the epistemological principles of complex thinking – the systemic, holographic, recursive-loop, and auto-eco-organization principles – function, in the construction of an ontology of complexity, as ontological principles, while the informational dimension of self-organization is of fundamental significance for social cognition, since a human community is sustained primarily by the exchange of meanings, and culture appears as a source of negentropy. The topology of social complexity is analyzed, and it is found that network social theories correlate with the paradigm of complexity and open up possibilities for conceiving of the boundary as a phenomenon of self-organization: within a network topology the boundary appears not as a line of division but as a boundary-context and a boundary-borderland that organizes communicative reality, while the social topoi it delineates are mobile and plastic chronotopes; it is substantiated that actor-network theory requires supplementation from the side of philosophical-anthropological analysis, since it tends to level out the specificity of human being associated with meaning-positing. The anthropological dimension of the cultural boundary is analyzed, and culture is conceived as a mode of self-organization of anthropological complexity arising in the interaction of the human being and culture according to the holographic, recursive, and dialogical principles; it is demonstrated that the human being who draws and re-signifies cultural boundaries appears as a cultural chronotope that organizes cultural space. The anthropological types of the "human-wayfarer," the "human-navigator," and the "human-borderguard" are disclosed, and it is shown that anthropological complexity arises precisely in the dialogue of these types, while marginality is reconceived from a deficit into a resource of cultural creativity. The cultural boundary in the Ukrainian experience is analyzed, and the paradigmatic character of the Ukrainian case is revealed: the Ukrainian sociocultural space, historically formed as a civilizational crossroads, is an exemplary instance of the multiplicity of interacting centers and peripheries that constitute a complex network topology of meanings; it is demonstrated that in the phenomenon of the mass displacement of Ukrainians the cultural boundary reveals a capacity for relocation together with the subject, while the process of decolonization appears as an active re-definition of the boundary from within – a transition from a hierarchical to a network organization of meanings, inseparably linked to the affirmation of human-centered and democratic values. The cultural boundary in the virtualization of social complexity is analyzed, and it is shown that virtual reality is a complexity that is part of social complexity and at the same time extends beyond it, related to it as the "complex with the complex"; it is found that the problem of the limits of the properly human acquires particular acuteness under the conditions of the development of artificial intelligence, since the emergence of systems that imitate subjectivity without being subjects undermines the presumption of the interlocutor's subjectivity, on which the meaning-making nature of cultural communication is grounded. It is proven that virtual culture is a project of the human-navigator, for whom the actual reality is the human being – the bearer of cultural meanings, who in virtual space becomes a specific cultural "chronotope," a "node" in networks of communication. It is substantiated that the cultural boundary appears as a crosscutting form of self-organization of social complexity, which, in all of its dimensions – socio-topological, anthropological, and virtual – is constituted by the meaning-making activity of the human being, who organizes human-dimensional social complexity and fills it with human-creative meanings. In this, as the study has shown, consists the principal theoretical result of the conceptual apparatus that has been developed.
