Spanish Steps in Rome and movie Roman Holiday (1953)

Abstract

For many people, the Spanish Steps is a visual reduction of Rome; they have been used in many films and TV shows since "Roman Holiday" in 1953. The authors present the Spanish Steps in the context of studying the film "Roman Holiday", through the plot of the film. Involving students throught one of the best movies allows to deepening knowledge not only in English, but also to get acquainted with the place of pilgrimage − the Spanish Steps (photos of travelers on the steps take the first place in the world), the history of their construction, history and geography of Italy.Для багатьох людей Іспанські сходи − це візуальне скорочення Риму; вони використовувались у багатьох фільмах та телешоу з часів "Римських канікул" у 1953 р. Автори представляють "Іспанські сходинки" в контексті вивчення фільму "Римські канікули" через сюжет та фабулу фільма. Залучення студентів до одного з найкращих фільмів дозволяє поглибити їх знання не лише англійської мови, а й ознайомитися з місцем паломництва мандрівників − Іспанськими сходами (світлини туристів на фоні сходів займають перше місце у світі), історією їх будівництва, а також з історією та географією Італії.
