Здійснено спробу аналізу характеру протистояння "підпільної" УГКЦ репресивній політиці радянського режиму, впливу єпископа В. Величковського на становлення позиції о.Володимира Стернюка; реконструювання одного із найважчих періодів біографії видатного діяча УГКЦ. Охарактеризовано не тількі особистісні, а й громадсько-політичні та геополітичні чинники, що впливали на душпастирську діяльність майбутнього митрополита УГКЦ В. Стернюка
