«Українське питання» в контексті відносин Константинополя і Москви на шляху до Всеправославного собору 2016 року

У статті аналізується взаємозв’язок між проблемою автокефалії православної церкви в Україні та процесом підготовки Всеправославного собору 2016 року у контексті складного комплексу взаємовідносин між Вселенським патріархатом, Російською православною церквою та українською державою. Розглядається історична ретроспектива передсоборного процесу, починаючи від перших ініціатив до початку його роботи, зокрема через призму конфлікту між Константинопольським і Московським патріархатами навколо «українського питання» як ключового фактора впливу на міжправославні відносини ХХІ століття. Встановлено, що неформальні домовленості між Константинополем та Москвою стали стратегічним компромісом, згідно з яким розблокування процесу передсоборної підготовки відбулося завдяки дистанціюванню Фанара від вирішення проблеми української церкви. Втім, такий компроміс мав тимчасовий характер, оскільки не розв’язував глибинних суперечностей щодо канонічної території та права на проголошення автокефалії. Це загострювало «українське питання», що врешті стало одним із основних чинників кризи міжправославної згоди напередодні Критського собору та подальшого конфлікту, пов’язаного із наданням автокефалії українській церкві Константинополем.

The article analyzes the interrelation between the issue of autocephaly of Ukrainian Orthodoxy and the process of preparing the Pan-Orthodox Council of 2016 within the broader context of the complex relations between the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Russian Orthodox Church, and the Ukrainian state. It examines the historical retrospective of the pre-conciliar process, from its initial initiatives to the beginning of its practical implementation, particularly through the prism of the conflict between Patriarchates of Constantinople and Moscow over the “Ukrainian question” as a key factor influencing inter-Orthodox relations in the twenty-first century. The study demonstrates that informal agreements between Constantinople and Moscow constituted a strategic compromise, according to which the unblocking of the pre-conciliar process was achieved through the distancing of the Ecumenical Patriarchate from the resolution of the Ukrainian church issue. However, this compromise proved to be temporary, as it did not resolve the underlying contradictions concerning canonical territory and the right to proclaim autocephaly, which were further intensified by the “Ukrainian question”, that ultimately became one of the major factors behind the crisis of inter-Orthodox consensus on the eve of the Council of Crete and the subsequent conflict related to the granting of autocephaly to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine by Constantinople.
